Since it has excellent weather and a retiree population, Rancho Mirage is known for its golf courses. In fact, the city owns two municipal golf courses that can be used both by residents and by visitors. If you’re thinking about moving to this city, whether full time or for several months a year, the golf courses are definitely worth checking out.
The main courses in the city are owned by the city. The Gary Player Signature Course is located on Ramon Road, and the Pete Dye Resort Course is located on Dinah Shore Drive. Residents – both full and part time – of the city can buy memberships that allow them to play golf at discounted rates at either of these courses. In order to buy a membership, you must prove that you’ve live in the city for at least five months out of the year, and you can fill out an application online at www.RanchoMirageCA.gov and take it to one of the course’s clubhouses.
For those who are just visiting, golf is definitely a great option, as well, and it’s often one of the main draws to Rancho Mirage, which has some of the country’s most beautiful golf courses. The Rancho Mirage Country Club, which hosts tournaments and has wedding facilities in the clubhouse, is located on Bob Hope Drive, and it attracts many tourists every year. Other clubs where visitors can hone their game of golf include the Tamarisk Country Club on Frank Sinatra Drive and the Thunderbird Country Club on Country Club Drive. Call around to some of the courses in the area before visiting if you’re curious about prices, and keep in mind that it is cheaper to play golf in Rancho Mirage during the off season, which is June through September.
