Let the good times roll in Rancho Mirage, California.
Although Rancho Mirage is known as a community with lots of retirees, there are still plenty of family-oriented activities in town, as well as things for the younger crowd to do. Some of the most popular area attractions include the zoo and the beautiful parks, which are full of hiking and biking trails for those who want to enjoy the beautiful desert flora and fauna. There are, of course, plenty of golf courses in the area, as well, and plenty of resort-style hotels that offer all-inclusive accommodation with on-site attractions of their own, too.
The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is located just about ten minutes south of Rancho Mirage in Palm Desert. It’s a huge zoo with open areas where animals roam freely. Much of the reserve is focused on educating people about desert animals and working for desert conservation, but other typical zoo sights, such as an African animals area and rooms for reptiles and amphibians can also be found here. Even though zoos typically cater to families with children, this is a sight worth seeing even if you’re a retiree or a single person traveling with a group!
Rancho Mirage is also full of parks to explore, many of which offer both walking trails and areas to relax or play on the grass lawns. Some of the parks, such as Whitewater Park, have playgrounds for children, and others are landscaped with desert flowers, like Michael S. Wolfson Park on Frank Sinatra Drive. Each park has its own personality, and exploring them can be lots of fun for visitors and new residents.
Of course, much Rancho Mirage entertainment is to be found on the resorts themselves. Many of the all-inclusive resorts in and around the city feature entertainment programs of their own, as well as pools, playgrounds, and on-site bars and clubs.
